So you wanna make a clan? - MUST READ -

So you've come across Elemental Fangs, adopted some pets, got them to say level 2, and then found the forum. Now browsing this forum you've discovered that many people have funky coloured names and as you ask around you discover their name colour represents a clan.

You head on down here to the Clans section and wonder, 'I want to make a clan!' So how do you do it? This tutorial will show you how!

THE BASICS OF CLANS
What Clans are for
Clans are group where one or more leaders form alliances with members in a single 'family'. Clans come in many names such as clans, packs, cults, groups, armies and more, but they all mean the same thing. As a clan, members can enter competitions and battles with and against other clans for the grand prize. All it takes is some active members and some adopting skills for the right pets.

All members are expected to obey all commands given by the leader(s) especially when challenging other clans. Should the leader wish a specific user to fight instead of you, you MUST stand down. Failure to comply will have punishments.

Do not think however that clans are purely for adoptable restrictions and battling!
People are open to making fan groups as clans, artist groups, bandwagons and such, all they need is a leader and some members!

What Special Privileges Clans Give
Clans allow the union of members in the community to form closer friendships than they would normally on the forum.
Special privileges include simply being in a clan, bonuses such as freebies from the leader (coins, points, pictures, etc.), special adopts and special weapons.
Special adopts and weapons/armour are part of the Official Clan privileges and are mentioned elsewhere in this tutorial.

Privileges differ from clan to clan, depending on what the leader(s) can offer.

Clan Basics
To create or join a clan you must know some of the basics about clans.
You will be expected to join a competition or two, battle other clans and have something to do in the clan - unless your clan is simply there because you want one. Members are less likely to join if there is nothing to do/gain.

Making a Clan

Coming Up With A Name
A clan should have a good name that members will be able to remember and spell easily - however this is not a requirement. If you wish to have a custom name with funky lettering or spelling there is no one stopping you. Clan names should some how reflect what your clan is about, e.g. the Dark Fangs Clan is a clan for darkness, obsidian and shadow elemental adopters.

A Short Description
Give us a short description about your clan, what kind of people you want to join and appeal to, what kind of adoptables your clan is aimed at, if you'll be going to enter the battle competitions or randomly challenge other clans in battle.
You can also state which part of the island your clan lives on - if you live on the island at all. A map will be up soon for you to choose land. Please be aware that territories are only checked in OC Clans so you may be sharing territory or even directly in the same place as other clans or OC Clans.

Insignia/Clan Mascot
This is OPTIONAL. You may want to draw up a logo, badge or insignia that represents your clan. Mascots are nice as well, but not required.
Insignias will usually reflect your clan just like the name and description.
They are allowed to have direct adoptable images on the insignia but permission from the artist (ShadoWolfozo) MUST be given before the images are saved onto your computer. Failure to comply will result in a warning and clan suspension.

[b]Making Up Rules For Your Clan
Perhaps you wish that members must follow a specific line of rules? Maybe members are ONLY allowed to adopt fire elementals, or only snake elementals. Members are unlikely going to follow the rules, or wont even join if it's that strict, but some rules can be applied, such as only a certain elemental/animal will be able to compete in contests. For example, Dark Fangs only allows the competing of users with only their darkness/obsidian/shadow adoptables, all others are not allowed to be used.

Rules can be anything, really. Just make them acceptable and not silly or people will not join.

Who Can Join/Getting Members
Same as the rules above, members will only join if your clan is appealing, and not if you simply ask them to.
To get members, make your clan great and even unique from the others. The more features, special events, etc. your clan has the possibility people will join rises.

What to do with Clans
In-Clan Competitions
You can make up competitions between clan members for fun. For example, you can battle a clan member against another clan member for ranks or prizes given by the leader and bids. Members can bid on the winner and win or lose points.
In-clan competitions can be anything from battles to logo competions to Theme song contests.
Be creative!

Challenging Other Clans
You can challenge other clans to a battle or contest with prize money coming from both leaders and/or bids. To do this, you must first get acceptance from the other leader (so private message them) to battle and then confirm with the Battle Master (currently Pyrkagias & ShadoWolfozo) then state a time and place and battle!
Set time battles: Set time battles will occur all at once on a selected day/time. All participating members MUST be on time or battle will proceed with advantage to opposing team. The actual battle thread will be made on the day of the battle confirmation (meaning, before the battle takes place) and bids can be made from the moment the thread is created. Bid and battle threads are the same thread.
Scattered Battles: Scattered Battles are battles that begin a certain day and continue over the course of however long until all members have fought.
This may take days or even weeks to complete depending on if members appear to fight or not.
If it is an all-out clan battle, then the next battle may NOT commence until both competitors of the previous battle have fought.
If one competitor does not participate for 3 days, then the fight is forfeit to the opposition and the next fight will commence. Same goes if the competitor refuses to battle.

If for some reason teams start quarreling over a fight, the whole battle will be cancelled by the Battle Master after a PM has been sent.

If you are an OC Clan you MAY be challenged by Wild Animals. You'll recieve a post in your clans thread from the battle master (currently Pyrkagias & ShadoWolfozo) saying that a wild animal has entered your home and threatened to attack you. You must defend yourself. (There are currently no consequences for ignoring the animal. Later there will be.)

Official Competitions
OFFICIAL COMPETITIONS ARE HELD BY SHADOWOLFOZO.
Official Competitions include the annual Elemental Clan Championships held every October (specific date changes) where clans compete against all other clans competing. These events are usually Set Time battles and will only be valid fights over the course of two or three days, anyone not showing up within a set time limit will forfeit the fight.
Official Competitions usually have large prizes given directly by the Admininistrator (ShadoWolfozo) for use on either the adoptable site or the forums. Prizes may include 1000 coins for every member in the winning clan, special limited edition adoptables, gold, silver and bronze adoptables, 1000 points for the forums or option to make the clan an OC Clan if they aren't already.

OC Clans fight seperately in OC Official Competitions, unless the clan has less than 10 members.

Adoptable Wounds/Losses
All fighting adoptables are automatically restored to full health after battles.
There is no need to send them anywhere or contact administrators.

Prizes
People bet with points - NOT adoptable site coins.
Points will be able to be converted to coins later.
If you win a battle, to collect your winnings you must PM an admininistrator for your prize - the Battle Master can not give it to you.

Affiliate Clans
Clans can affiliate with others, forming alliances. Clans in alliances will not fight each other in Official Competitions unless they are the only clans left in the competitions.
To affiliate a clan the leader must pm the other leader for alliance and it must be agreed upon. Members MAY suggest an alliance but both leaders must approve.
Alliances can be used in standard battles where a clan can bring in members from another clan to fight for them, with their permission of course.

Enemy Clans
Enemy clans are clans you've done so much damage to they officially hate you. Just kidding, enemy clans are clans that are the opposite to alliances. They will never fight for you and have a higher chance of requesting battles than nuetral clans. These clans will most likely be just as powerful as you are so watch your back when in official competitions.


Becoming an Official Clan
What OC Clans Are
OC stands for 'Official Clan' and is an upgraded version of standard clans. OC clans have more privileges and probably more members.
OC Clans do not fight in standard Official Competitions, but the OC Official Competitions, unless the clan has less than 10 members.

Becoming An OC Clan
Becoming an OC Clan is currently unavailable.

Special Privileges
OC Clans get their own coloured group, so all members' names will change to that specific colour. New OC Clans may only choose colours not already chosen by admins, mods or other clans.
They also get to choose territory on the soon-to-be map. Territories are small so that many clans can fit on the map.
Be warned, you'll be sharing it with other elemental animals and may be challenged by wild animals.
OC Clans fight with their clan name beginning with 'OC'.
OC Clans can get special adopts, weapons and items.
OC Clans seem more appealing and professional, but the clan may or may not be OC due to it's number of members at such. If a member buys OC privileges as soon as the clan is made, it still counts as an OC clan.
